Done in three phases, we connected the disparate living spaces typically found in a Berkeley Craftsman; the kitchen, family room, and laundry were all streamlined into a Great Room that opens onto the backyard. New decking stitches the main house together with a new in-law unit, built into an old garage that we literally lifted into the air to pour a new foundation.
